Project outline

I was approached to design a logo for a technical drone enthusiast company. They specialise in incorporating the drone flying experience with VR (virtual reality).
‘Vespula’ refers to the flying wasp like insect, and so I managed to incorporate that image in a very simple and symbolic design. The logotype mimics and compliments the logo mark with a futurist and technical style.

My research and concept creation lead me down the path of combining the notion of a flying wasp (Vespula) with a minimal, mechanical drone style design.

Brand.colour.scheme

Referring back to colour psychology, I chose the colour palette for this brand with a lot of thought. Vespula is such a modern and cutting-edge
brand that shades of dark grey and black make a lot of sense. I then incorporated the technology aspect of the brands image by adding in a hue of
blue, and finally to accent this a yellow works well. Also of course, yellow links back to the ‘wasp’ aspect of the brands name and image.

logo.type

For the main logotype, a sans serif font was chosen to represent the brand. With Vespula, it was very important
to get this decision ‘right’ because often the brand would be seen and recognised by the typography alone.

The sans serif choice is very modern, cutting-edge and has appearances that link back to technology and
science fiction. This was not a mistake, rather a very well thought out decision that ended up representing
the brand perfectly.
